Bizzarro places 3rd in National team competition at the NBL Grand National:

With no year end bonus on the line Bizzarro did not “chase” team points in the2006 NBL National season, so entering the Grand National in 7th place overall may have made it seem to some like we were “underdogs” in the weekends highest level of team competition. But with riders on the squad like DiPrete, Gaddis, Dunn, Applewhite, Savarese and more, Bizzarro is never far from the lead. When the smoke cleared the results showed the team THIRD behind the big budget teams of Felt and Dan’s Comp, and AHEAD of teams like 2004 national team champion Hyper, 2005 grand national team winner Answer/Everguard, Revolution Bikes, OFR and MANY others.

Congratulations to ALL the team riders at the 2006 NBL Grands for an outstanding weekend of effort and performance, and a gracious thank you to all the teams co-sponsor’s for their support throughout the season.

Bizzarro’s Dunn and Gaddis earn 3 National Championships:

I’ve always said it takes as much luck as it does skill to win a national title, and Walter Dunn proved that statement both right and wrong at the 2006 NBL Grand National. With a 22-29 cruiser title all but wrapped up when he pulled into the E. P. Tom Sawyer State Park parking lot Thursday, Dunn was cool and collective all the way through 22-29 expert racing action during the entire weekend. Using his Thomson stem, Cane Creek headset and Fly bars to cruise around the Kentucky orange clay track for three moto wins.
Once points favorites like Edson and McGonogle stumbled in moto action the biggest break for Dunn came in the quarterfinals. Teammate Justin Lopes had been paired up with Walter in a moto and transferred onto the quarter along with Dunn. Lopes, having taken most of 06 season off, looked rusty in the moto’s, but in the quarter he got a gate start of old and stuck his front Intense tire right where it should have been in turn one. Now in second behind Dunn the pack battled to get around Lopes, this battling led to the current 22-29 x points leader “wild” Bill Young getting bumped out of qualifying position and out of #1 contention. From there, with a 7 point lead on McGonigle and a 6 point lead on Edson, all Dunn had to do was ride consistent. Down the last strait in the main event Walter out manualed another rider using his Cane Creek wheels to pull the forth place position he need to take the title.

Kayla Gaddis’ title came down to main event also, as last years champion was still tied with Gaddis for the points lead in the 18-29 girls cruiser class. As the gate dropped it was all over, as Kayla put the power down to her KMC chain and led from start to finish! Her Brew frame, Sinz wheels and ODI grips stayed true and allowed a young woman to be a champion for the 2006 season.
