For the first time in Bizzarro's history we had a complete group effort in three different locations on the same day/weekend. In Athens Tennessee our ABA team did battle in the Factory team competition, finishing with a pair of fourths for the weekend. Bobby Piotrowski, Cassidy Cox, Cheyenne Algier, Austin Loobe, Don Boulerice and "A" pro Will Murray represented Bizzarro strong and proud in TN. In Woodbridge Virginia our NBL squad took on some of the heavy hitting (and heavy spenders) teams for double team payouts. Walter Dunn (jr), Menardo Simon, Ace Savarese, Kayla Gaddis, Chris Meaker, Walter Dunn (sr) and Michelle Peters rode great picking up third in the national team division on day 1. While on Sunday the 12th London Wilmot, "A" pro Nick St. Lawrence (Welham Bikes), "A" pro Allen Currier and one Davey Maltezos were on hand in Torrington for a 300 plus rider Connecticut state qualifier. We participated in one of the weekend warrior money open series stops and conducted an after racing clinic prior to heading down to Bethel Connecticut to start the 3rd annual Bizzarro Summer camp the following morning. Below
are some photo highlights from the weekend of July 8th and 9th. |

Report from the ABA Bizzarro Factory team racing in Athens, Tennessee July 11th and 12th This weekend in Tennessee was a lot of fun where Austin and I (Don Boulerice) had the opportunity to meet (Fellow Teammate) Will Murray. He stopped by our tent where he took the time to talk with Austin, Cheyenne, Cassidy and I. The kids really enjoyed his company as they hit him with questions.
As far as the BMX
racing went, let's just say if the ABA gave out a trophy for having
bad luck, Team Bizzarro would have had won the Big One this
weekend. Saturday Will Murray was on fire all day as he took first and
second in the his first two rounds. During the third round Will was
leading a tight pack into the first turn where he went down and injured
his shoulder. Will was a trooper as he went up on the gate in the main
event with his arm taped to his chest. Will had told Bonnie that he was
going to roll the gate and help Team Bizzarro gain points. Will
attempted to stand up at the gate and give the appearance he was willing
to snap out with one arm until the gate dropped. Will then sat down,
rolled out of the gate and rolled by our tent where we were able to
cheer him on.
Sunday went about as
good as Saturday. This time it was Austin and Cheyenne who were
flying around the track in their qualifying rounds. However during
their main events, Austin and Cheyenne fell and will be taking home some
of the Tennessee red clay on their Bizzarro Racing jersey. Cheyenne may
have fractured his wrist when he crashed in nearly the same spot Will
crashed. Austin was lucky to ride away with a few sore spots, but is
still upset that his new bike was scratched during the wreck.

As much as we bag on Walter about the Mountain Bike thing, when it comes to racing the cruiser class he is WAY faster on the 26 then the 24. Money opens on the other hand... not so much! Walter picked up two perfects in Woodbridge to cap out for the season and help the team to a 3 rd place finish on day 1. |

Kayla Gaddis lead the Elite Women's main event on day 1 till the last corner, when she was taken out by the eventual. This crash left Kayla in need of a new pair of racing pants, on the sidelines for day two and hobbled for the majority of the camp week in Bethel. |

Up next for the Bizzarro crew is a weekend of ABA national racing in Bensalem Pennsylvania on the 22nd and 23rd of July, followed by a Friday afternoon clinic in Westfield Mass on July 28th. Team riders Ace Savarese and Michelle Peters are heading to Brazil to represent team USA at the UCI World's. |
